Videos from Appalachian State University

The following video clip is from Darrick Claiborne's first theatrical fashion show at Appalachian State University. It stars student volunteers who rehearsed the choreography with Claiborne for about 1-2 months. The show was presented during Homecoming of 1993 and the energy was over the top.

This is where Claiborne's student production family began. Many of the students continued to work with Claiborne throughout his many years producing his theatrical productions. The best part of it all, was that everything was free including admission to the productions, borrowing of the clothes, and the many hours of producing the show by Claiborne and his classmates. It was a labor of love. They believed in what they were doing and that joy carried on to the stage.

The following video clip is from Darrick Claiborne's Second theatrical fashion show at Appalachian State University. It stars student volunteers who rehearsed the choreography with Claiborne for about 1-2 months. The show was presented during Homecoming of 1994.

The following video clip is from Darrick Claiborne's Third theatrical fashion show at Appalachian State University. It stars student volunteers who rehearsed the choreography with Claiborne for about 1-2 months. The show was presented Valentines Day 1995.

Because it was also Black History Month, each scene of the show was introduced by Black History Facts and the facts were incorporated into the scene.

The following video clip is the Finale from Darrick Claiborne's Third theatrical fashion show at Appalachian State University. The Young Ladies and Men in this Finale rehearsed the choreography with Claiborne for about 1-2 months. The Ladies in the beginning of the scene pleasantly surprised Claiborne with some of their own choreography. The show was presented Valentines Day 1995.

Because it was also Black History Month, each scene of the show was introduced by Black History Facts and the facts were incorporated into the scene. This Finale was a tribute to the ups and downs of love, done especially for Valentines Day.

The following video clip is a combination of music videos created at Appalachian State University. They are called "Fun Flicks". The Student Programs office would sponsor various events on campus. Sometimes students were given the opportunity to do Laser Tag, watch movies, etc. This particular event allowed students to make free music videos with friends.

The following video clip is a combination of songs performed by the Appalachian State University Black Student Association Gospel Choir. Every semester the choir would travel to churches in North Carolina and nearby states and perform the songs learned in the Gospel Choir Class at ASU.

The concert tour ended with a concert performed for the community and students at ASU. This is a clip from the Spring Concert in 1993.
